252 m2 living
3 bedrooms
Other
Situated on the IJ River, this high-end floating loft spans 252 m². Originally a cargo ship built in 1962, it has been transformed into a remarkable houseboat where timeless elegance and craftsmanship converge. Measuring an impressive 40 metres in length, with ceilings soaring to 4.
5 metres, it combines recycled materials, bespoke design, and art in perfect harmony. The property offers three spacious bedrooms.
This fully turn-key houseboat is moored at the Cas Oorthuyskade, featuring a private entrance and an exclusive bicycle storage area accessible only to residents of the quay.
Access to the houseboat is via the original wheelhouse, which boasts large windows framing stunning views of the Buiten-IJ. On the right, the former captain’s quarters have been converted into a spacious bedroom with an en-suite bathroom. The bed, flooring, and cabinetry in this room are crafted from repurposed Azobé wood salvaged from the ship’s hold. From the wheelhouse, you can access the mezzanine, an ideal workspace with a steel floor.
An open staircase leads to the stunning living area. The former cargo hold, with its 40-metre length, split-level layout, 4.5-metre ceiling height, and three expansive skylights, exudes light and space. This area features a polished concrete floor and a custom wood-burning stove. The open-plan kitchen, designed with steel and dark wood, is equipped with high-end appliances. A steel spiral staircase connects to a raised platform, perfectly suited as a workspace overlooking the water. At the bow of the ship, there is a unique gallery space designed to display art.
A corridor with original portholes provides access to the utility room, two additional bedrooms, a separate toilet, and the engine room. The two bedrooms are separated by a second bathroom, finished in a concrete aesthetic and fitted with a walk-in shower and washbasin.
The houseboat also offers a spacious upper deck near the wheelhouse and ample seating at the rear, providing a serene view over the water.
