120 m2 living
2 bedrooms
Upper house
Very bright and quiet loft apartment measuring 120 m2 spread over two floors, including an elevator and two terraces. This beautiful apartment is located in the charming monumental building “het Blaeuwe Huys”, along the Herengracht right in the heart of Amsterdam.
This canal house was built in 1615, commissioned by Hans Rombouts, and has served previously as a boarding house and bank building. The stately entrance with wooden revolving door gives access to the very impressive hallway with palm trees, a glass roof and a marble floor. Both the elevator and the wooden and well-preserved original staircase lead up to the 2nd floor where you’ll find the apartment’s entrance.
The peace and quiet in the apartment really stands out. Living right in the middle of the city, overlooking the courtyard gardens combined with the sounds of nature, makes this place one-of-a-kind.
The long hallway, boasting a bespoke wardrobe and seating area, provides access to the living space. Your attention will be immediately drawn to the large windows overlooking the characteristic Amsterdam courtyard gardens and buildings. The open kitchen, finished in all-black, is equipped with built-in appliances and overlooks the dining area.
The modern and spacious sitting room is adjacent to the sunny terrace of 8.8 m2 facing west. Here, you can enjoy the sun in the afternoon and evening, and you have an amazing view (that turns into a green oasis in summer).
The staircase leads up to the 3rd floor. An abundance of natural light comes in through the skylights. In the master bedroom, the ceiling height reaches up to 4.7 meters. This bedroom is entered via a steel door with glass and lies adjacent to the lovely bathroom boasting a walk-in shower and whirlpool bath with skylight. This space is particularly light and bright and provides a wonderful view up to the sky.
The other open room is currently being used as an office, but could very well be set up as a second bedroom. There is a walk-in closet and a toilet here.
The 4th floor benefits from a mezzanine with built-in storage, where a office space could be realized.
The apartment is located in the heart of Amsterdam along the beautiful Herengracht between the Raadhuisstraat and Hartenstraat, just steps away from the Westerkerk, the 9 streets and Dam Square. The direct vicinity provides plenty of restaurants, cafés and boutique stores, all within walking distance. Central Station can be reached in 5 minutes by bike, providing access to all public transportation and other connecting roads.
