230 m2 living
4 bedrooms
Other
Unique canal house of 230 m² in a tranquil location on the Singel, with a rich history dating back to the 19th century. Designed with an eye for detail and elegance, it has been impeccably maintained and carefully refined over the years. Spread over six floors, it offers four spacious bedrooms, four bathrooms, a beautiful garden, and an exceptionally private rooftop terrace.
The property benefits from both residential and business permits, making it ideal for a variety of uses. Thanks to its smart layout, it is well-suited for both living and working. The various rooms offer ample privacy and can easily serve as offices, children’s rooms, or even accommodation for an au pair.
The entrance to the house is on the lower ground floor, where the front section features an original black-and-white checkered marble floor. This level includes a cozy sitting area with a pantry, a toilet, and a separate space for the washing machine and dryer. A staircase at mid-level leads to the upper floors, while a glass door behind the stairs provides access to the office space and the beautifully landscaped, deep private garden of approximately 40 m². The office also features a spacious storage area.
The bel-etage comprises two elegant bedrooms with soaring ceilings of approximately 3.5 meters, large windows, and a refined herringbone-patterned wooden floor. Both rooms have their own en-suite bathroom. The canal-facing bedroom showcases a charming wooden beam ceiling, while the garden-facing bedroom is adorned with original ceiling ornaments.
On the first floor, a luxurious bedroom with an en-suite bathroom overlooks the canal. The bathroom is exquisitely finished with custom marble slabs and includes a double walk-in shower, a double sink, and a bathtub with a view of the water. A dressing room with custom-built wardrobes leads to the sleeping area at the rear.
The second floor houses a spacious living room featuring a Hungarian point wooden floor and expansive windows that stretch nearly from floor to ceiling, offering breathtaking canal views.
At the heart of this space is an impressive open void of nearly six meters high, creating a striking sense of volume. A refined glass balustrade enhances the openness and subtly connects the different floors. The balustrade can be illuminated at two different levels.
The sitting area, slightly elevated at the rear, features the same elegant black-and-white marble flooring as the lower ground floor.
The open-plan kitchen on the third floor is tastefully designed with high-end built-in appliances, stainless steel finishes, and striking green marble. Once again, the space is complemented by a Hungarian point floor, charming French doors, and exposed wooden beams.
The inviting attic level boasts an exposed wooden beam structure, a bathroom with a toilet, and is perfectly suited as a study or additional bedroom.
Double doors open onto the exceptionally private rooftop terrace, ideally positioned to enjoy the sun all day, complete with a storage unit.
Location:
The home is situated in a peaceful and charming section of the canal belt, within walking distance of the Negen Straatjes, Haarlemmerdijk, Westerstraat, and Noordermarkt, all offering a diverse selection of shops, restaurants, and cafés. The Westerpark is less than a 10-minute bike ride away, as is Central Station. Thanks to its location at the beginning of the canal, the A10 ring road is also easily accessible.
